However, Your animal must be well-behaved at the gate and during the flight. If your animal is disruptive, aggressive, or threatens the health and safety of other passengers, Allegiant Airlines holds the right to ban the Air travel for your PSD from their flight.

Under current U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Allegiant Air cannot require passengers to provide a psychiatric service dog (PSD) letter or doctor’s note when traveling with a service dog. Medical documentation is not required for boarding.

Instead, Allegiant relies on the U.S. DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form, which serves as the primary document for service dog travel approval.

Passengers traveling with a service dog must complete and submit this form through Allegiant’s online service animal portal, operated in partnership with the Open Doors Organization, at least 48 hours before departure. The form requires travelers to certify that their dog is individually trained to perform tasks for a person with a disability, is in good health, and meets appropriate behavior standards for public air travel.

This letter confirms your need for a psychiatric service dog to assist with your mental or psychiatric disability. A PSD letter provides access to accommodations, public spaces, airlines, and other areas under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA).

To obtain a psychiatric service dog letter:

Step 1: Register with the Fast ESA Letter and book an appointment with a healthcare professional.
Step 2: Consult a professional about your disability and the role a psychiatric service dog can play in managing your symptoms and improving your quality of life.
Step 3: Get approval from the professional and receive a digital copy of your PSD letter.

• The animal must always remain within your control and be securely harnessed or leashed.
• Your animal must remain on the floor, under the seat, or in your lap (if the animal visually appears to be less than 30 lbs.).
• The airline prohibits your animal from sitting on the seat or eating from tray tables.
• Your animal must be fully task-trained to behave in a public setting.

As per the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 14, Part 382 (by the U.S. Department of Transportation or DOT), Allegiant can deny transport of your animal. If your service animal fails to meet the requirements listed below, Allegiant has the right to limit the transportation of your animal.

• Your pet should not run around or jump on other passengers.
• Your pet should not open its leash itself inside the aircraft or the airport terminal.
• Your pet should not bark excessively.

Domestic dogs and cats generally have predictable behavior patterns, especially when compared to exotic or less common animals. Moreover, your pet must be at least eight weeks of age to travel with Allegiant Airlines.

• Soft-sided carriers (recommended): Maximum 18″ L x 12″ W x 11″ H
• Hard-sided carriers: Maximum 17″ L x 11″ W x 10.5″ H

All pet carriers must be fully enclosed, secure, leak-proof, and properly ventilated. Additionally, the carrier must provide enough space for the animal to stand, turn around, and lie down in a natural position during travel.

Since Allegiant strictly enforces its pet carrier requirements, travelers should carefully measure both their carrier and pet before arriving at the airport to help avoid check-in or boarding issues.

• While at the airport terminal and onboard the aircraft, your pet must remain in the carrier and only be handled by you.
• Pet carriers must be placed under the seat during take-off, landing, and taxi.
• Pets must be healthy, friendly, and odorless.
• Pet must fit comfortably in the carrier. They must have enough space to stand up and turn around.
• You may not occupy an exit row, one row before/after an exit row, or occupy a seat in the bulkhead.
• You must check in with an Allegiant agent at the ticket or gate counter at least one hour before scheduled departure.
• Allegiant Airlines does not transport animals in the cargo bin.
• You don’t need A health certificate for your dog or cat.
• Allegiant doesn’t take responsibility for the health and well-being of your pets in the cabin.
